Position Overview The Commercial HVAC Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC installations, renovations, and design-build projects. This person will review plans, specifications, proposals, and project documents to determine scope, labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor needs. Key Responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications, and proposals
Prepare detailed HVAC system cost estimates
Perform take-offs, labor calculations, and material pricing
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
Work with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
Identify scope gaps, project challenges, and value-engineering opportunities
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, clients, and internal teams
Attend pre-construction meetings and site visits as needed
Ensure estimates align with applicable codes, specifications, budgets, and project requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum of 3 years of commercial construction estimating experience
Strong HVAC systems knowledge
Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and scope documents
Experience with design-build or integrated project delivery preferred
Estimating software and Microsoft Office proficiency
CAD or Revit experience is a plus
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
